Abstract: This thesis offers a critical reading of two works by Argentinian writer Sylvia Molloy, En breve cárcel (1981) and Desarticulaciones (2010). My first reading is centered around some – also early – approaches to the reception and circulation of the author’s first novel and the critical-fictional interlacements between this and her later writings. Subsequently, I analyze the theme of loss in the works comprised in this thesis. In En breve cárcel, loss is comprehended as the alienating melancholy and the angst of desire that mark the work from a homosexual experience, while in Desarticulaciones, it corresponds to a romantic farewell and an ethical testimony in face of Alzheimer’s, in a work in which affection and cooperation between women is a key theme. In dialog with women authors who wrote on feminist criticism, I analyze the destabilization of the subject and her bonds (family, national, language, sexual, and emotional bonds) as one of the cores of Molloy’s work and the change in rhetoric that transpired in the author’s "literary project."
