Abstract: Introduction: Overall satisfaction with life (SWL) is considered a cognitive indicator resulting from the comparison that each person makes between their life as a whole and domains, including health, functionality, social relationships, family, environment and memory, through the individual and social patterns. Investigating which elements influence satisfaction becomes relevant as it can provide subsidies for the planning and implementation of practices aimed at the elderly, aiming at their well-being. Objective: To identify the variables that influence overall satisfaction with life in elderly participants in the study FIBRA 2016-2017. Method: A quantitative cross-sectional study, using the database of the FIBRA study 2016-2017. The selected variables were overall satisfaction with life, sociodemographic, health self-assessment, self-reported illnesses, social participation, satisfaction with the support they received. The prevalence of satisfaction with life was estimated according to the independent variables (sociodemographic, self-assessed health, morbidities, social participation and satisfaction with the help they received) and associations were verified by Pearson's chi-square test, with a significance level of 5%. The VS odds ratio (adjusted for sex and age) and the respective 95% confidence intervals were estimated using logistic regression. Results: Of the 419 elderly in the study, the predominant age group was 72 to 79 years at 44.2%, 69.5% female, education from 1 to 4 years at 58.2%, marital status with spouse 53.3%, housing arrangements those with a partner 36.6%. The prevalence of men in the age group 80 to 84 years old with higher levels of satisfaction with life at 2.03 odds (CI 1.14-3.59) of presenting higher levels of satisfaction with life when compared to 72 to 79 year olds. Participation in social activities, distal level 2.34 (1.34-4.09) p= 0.003; and satisfaction with the help they receive when they are sick, for the care of the house and pets, a lot/very much 1.97 (1.14-3.41) p = 0.015. Conclusion: The study pointed to social participation distal and satisfaction with the social support they receive as influencers of high levels of SWL in the elderly
