Abstract: Reading and writing are essential practices for life in society and, in this path that involves their teaching, usually started in the first years of schooling, the figure of the teacher and teacher is presented as a watershed. This is because the approach, method, and teaching perspective that substantiate teaching practices largely affect the relationship that students will establish with reading and text production. Discussions around reading and writing practices are often recurrent in the context of teacher training. However, how teachers conduct this process carries, in addition to learning and guidance from training, their ways of acting, conceiving, and developing literacy. Because of this, the present text, based on bibliographic research, whose study material brings together theses and dissertations produced in public universities in São Paulo between 2015 and 2019, aims to infer teaching inventiveness, through evidence, forged by perceptions arising from the relationship between the training of literacy teachers and the teaching practices of reading and writing, expressed in such academic studies. The research corpus is analyzed in the light of the theoretical-methodological framework of Cultural History, to support the analysis of research regarding teaching actions in the face of possibilities of appropriation, deviations, and re-employment concerning training proposals, in the interface with Literacy Studies from a sociocultural perspective. The notes resulting from the study showed clues that literacy teachers, narrated in the research, manifest their inventiveness in different ways: whether in the relationships between peers that they star in, in the pedagogical guidelines that give new or in the multiple meanings they produce among themselves and with their students, in the order they subvert, albeit subtly, finally, in the rearrangements they make in formative contexts. Thus, even though the inferred evidence represents specific realities, and it is not intended to generalize them, it was possible to conclude, that there is no direct transposition between what teachers learn in training courses, be they more traditional or not, and what they accomplish when teaching their students to read and write
