Abstract :
[en] Abstract AIFREF Prague 2017 What impact of type 1 diabetes on the quality of life of a sibship? Type 1 diabetes mellitus, as a chronic disease, concerns many children and teenagers. Although literature is increasingly taking an interest in the quality of life of the sick child, too little attention is paid on the other children of the sibship today. This study tries to question, in relation, the quality of life, the representation of the disease, the self-esteem and the strategies of adaptation, from the teenager affected by diabetes's point of view but also from his brothers and sisters. For that purpose, an idiographic exploratory-type study was chosen. We shall try to show that this somatic disease involves the affected child as much as the members of the sibship. We shall argue for a further look upon the whole family, which would not limit itself to the sick subject.
