Abstract :
[en] Precision coating requires a deep understanding of both the dynamics of wetting and dewetting so that one can control the solid area that remains coated by the liquid or left dry. Over the last 40 years, many studies have been devoted to wetting phenomenon from the theoretical, experimental, and numerical simulation aspects. However, less attention has been paid to the dynamics of dewetting. In particular we are unable to predict the speed at which a surface will dewet. Here, we outline a new theoretical model of dynamic dewetting [1] and compare it with results obtained from large-scale molecular dynamics simulations.
