Zusammenfassung
Temporal recalibration has been shown for multisensory stimuli that are passively perceived such as visual–haptic or visual–auditory events. We have recently proposed models based on Bayesian inference showing that these recalibration mechanisms are in line with optimal estimation schemes. Similarly temporal recalibration has been shown for sensorimotor events. Sensorimotor events are unique in the way that when acting on the world we are the cause for the changes that occur and that we perceive. There is a unique temporal order between the cause–effect relationship, which is between the action and subsequent percept of the change. In some recent studies we investigated how this cause–effect relationship impacts on the temporal recalibration of sensorimotor recalibration.
