Abstract
Kinetic oscillations in heterogeneously catalyzed reactions have been studied for over a decade using single crystals as catalysts. This paper presents a few selected examples in order to illustrate some of the most interesting aspects of these studies: the formulation of oscillation mechanism based on experimental facts, the mathematical analysis of kinetic models using bifurcation theory and spatiotemporal pattern formation on the catalyst surface.
