Abstract

The pornography industry upholds illegal and exploitative practices. Due to the illicit nature of pornography, the industry is shrouded in secrecy and anonymity. This project summarizes laws of the United States and Canada relevant to internet pornography as well as how those laws have recently been violated, and how those violations have been handled. It also examines the facts concerning the culpability of the pornography industry in the exploitation of women and minors. In this conversation, it is important to consider points of legality surrounding the production and curation of pornography while also being mindful that the pornography industry is a business sector and must abide by the same rules other sectors follow. The goal of this project is to provide the reader with knowledge of this issue from the legal, business, and moral perspective in order that they may better form their own opinion on these matters.
