The hydrogen economy will play an integral key role in transitioning to a net zero energy economy. However, it will require the right conditions to produce hydrogen sustainably and provide it to local and international markets for suitable applications. The processes need not just the right technology, they need the availability and development of political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental (PESTLE) conditions to bring about the transformation of the current carbonised energy practices.
