Abstract :
[en] The “Change Management for Project Managers” e-learning course aims at offering the students different theoretical and practical perspectives regarding the change management issues and challenges as well as the ways to handle them. The course will first focus on how the change projects, their nature, their scope, their temporalities, etc. can be described (chapter 1). It will then highlight how these changes can be explained, by referring to different theoretical approaches – the second chapter demonstrates that different complementary theoretical approaches are often necessary to analyze and explain change processes in a complete and detailed way – and by combining them in an integrated model, called "the 5 forces model" (chapter 2). The course will finally explore how change projects can be managed, by discussing different management styles and by exploring diverse concrete avenues of action, linked to the theoretical approaches previously examined (chapter 3). After having distinguished different possible styles of change management – opposing in particular top-down and bottom-up approaches –, the course details the basic principles of the “polyphonic management style”, directly inspired by the 5 forces model studied in the chapter 2. Different avenues of actions are highlighted, insisting in particular on the need to involve stakeholders in change management approaches and on the importance to adjust change management practices on the basis of the exact content of the projects and on the basis of the specificities of the contexts in which they are carried out. On the methodological level, this e-learning course is based on several complementary multimedia resources to help the students in their learning process: - a written syllabus, where students will find theoretical explanations of the main usual concepts in “Change Management” as well as several summaries (tables, graphs, etc.) to help the students in their learning process; - theoretical podcasts, offering the students a synthesis of each chapter; - written and video case studies, to been seen as practical illustrations of the theoretical concepts; - video case studies, exercises and quizzes, to be seen not only as practical illustrations of the theoretical concepts but also as an interesting opportunity for students to concretely check out their understanding of the concepts through real case analyses.
