Abstract :
[en] Professor Fabienne Glowacz is a clinical psychologist and director of the ARCH (Adaptation Resilience and Change) research unit at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Liège. Since the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic crisis, she has been conducting studies evaluating the impact of the crisis on the mental health of the population. It is clear that young people, adolescents and young adults, are strongly affected by the crisis ; they suffer from anxiety and depressive symptoms, suicidal ideation, loss of hope and eating disorders. Girls and young women are more likely to present these clinical disorders. In her presentation, Prof. Glowacz will put into perspective the results of studies conducted at different times of the crisis, identify the factors related to the crisis that generated the psychological distress of young people, as well as their needs for psychological support in this period of crisis and in the post-crisis period. In addition to the risk factors, it will analyse the protective factors that mitigated the psychological impact of the crisis, as well as the learning and awareness that young people developed. These different research results may help to orientate clinical, psychological and social interventions with a view to resilience.
