Relationship between "difficulty" and "reasonable accommodation content" for students with developmental disorders and student with mental disorders: Categorization of request for reasonable accommodation

Abstract In the procedure of creating Reasonable Accommodation paper, there is a process for considering the necessity of accommodation student presented. However, the relationship between "the difficulty stud...ents are feeling" and the "content of accommodation" presented by students has not been fully considered in the past study. Therefore, in this study we categorized and organized "content of accommodations" and "difficulties" in studying experienced by students with developmental and mental disorders. Nineteen categories were generated for '·accommodation", including "providing information of class content", "extending assignment deadline", "alter examinations with reports", ''permitting recording class sessions". Based on the result of this categorization, the format for the interview used in the procedure of creating Reasonable Accommodation paper has created. This format may contribute to providing the opportunity for students with disabilities to acquire self-advocacy skills.show more
