Abstract

Through the creation of a mythological architectural comic book this thesis will demonstrate the potential of the power and drama of myth in architecture. The thesis will engage the verbal and visual imagination of the viewer through the medium of sequential art by creating a narrative of experience that depicts the journey through the building with image and text. The architecture's goal is not just to contain the viewer, but engage him continuously in an aesthetic experience, as a comic book does. This may prove the capability of sequential art to generate and present event and myth in architecture in a way that other mediums cannot. So that in the end the architecture can be read like a comic book and communicate the religious beliefs of the society and becomes a mythological comic book.
