Absztrakt

I experienced that more and more people in my surroundings opt for looking up information in electronic dictionaries rather than in their paper based equivalents, because they are easier and more convenient to use. That is the motive for choosing to write about electronic dictionaries, which are gaining ground over paper based dictionaries, due to the increasingly quick improvement of computers. This process is part of the so called electronic revolution (Jackson: 2002, p.73). My thesis consists of eight chapters. The body can be divided into three bigger units, based on their message content. The first unit includes two chapters, in which the most determining improvement of dictionaries is described. The following three chapters exemplify how computers changed dictionaries. Next, my own research is depicted, which makes up a special part of my thesis.
