My thesis is going to provide a synopsis of the three different stages of the modern man in William Faulkner’s novel titled The Sound and the Fury. These different stages which present the phases of human life are described in details in Edmond L. Volpe’s work titled A Reader’s Guide to William Faulkner: The Novels which gives an excellent basis for analysing them.
