Undoubtedly, the intricate problem of establishing a possible national identity has become part and parcel of Canadian literature too. I intend to demonstrate the connection between multiculturalism and national identity on the basis of two Canadian novels: A Jest of God (1966) by Margaret Laurence and Fabrizio's Passion (1995) by Antonio D'Alfonso.
