Abstract
Block transceivers are essential for modern communication systems, and they are vastly implemented in many day-to-day devices, especially the orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) technique. The application of a pulse-shaping technique in the OFDM generates the so-called windowed OFDM (w-OFDM). This letter proposes an optimization of the window shape, obtaining minimal intercarrier and intersymbol interference power, ICI, and ISI, respectively. A communication system is simulated by implementing the optimized w-OFDM, and its performance is compared with a non-optimized system using a raised-cosine window.
