Una revisión sobre los instrumentos de evaluación de la imagen corporal en educación infantil

Abstract

En la actualidad se han desarrollado muchos cánones de belleza idealizados e inalcanzables, que, según apuntan las investigaciones fuera del ámbito español, pueden ser interiorizados por los niños de infantil, incrementando el riesgo de desarrollar diversos problemas psicológicos y sociales. Debido a esta alarmante situación, el objetivo de la investigación fue analizar y conocer qué instrumentos han sido empleados para medir la insatisfacción y distorsión de la imagen corporal, así como los estereotipos corporales en niños de infantil. Para ello se revisaron 20 artículos procedentes de las bases de datos Web of Science, Proquest y Eric, y los portales de revistas SAGEjournals y Science Direct desde el año 2005 hasta el 2015. Los resultados muestran que con el paso del tiempo se ha ido adaptando la escala de siluetas de 7 figuras propuesta por Collins (1991) disminuyendo o ampliando el número de siluetas, o cambiándoles el color de piel y otros aspectos corporales a los dibujos. Además, las nuevas tecnologías han permitido el desarrollo de instrumentos más sofisticados, como escalas de fotografías que ofrecen mayor realismo y que permiten incorporar en las siluetas las caras de los participantes. Para estudiar los prejuicios hacia la obesidad también se han creado juegos, historias, modificado el índice de masa corporal de las barbies y visualizado fragmentos de películas. Como conclusión es importante resaltar la necesidad de validar un instrumento en español para poder conocer y profundizar en el desarrollo de la imagen corporal de los niños de infantil en España.

Today many societies have developed idealized and unattainable standards of beauty which, as pointing out the Spanish research field, can be internalized by preschoolers, increasing the risk of developing some psychological and social problems. Because of this alarming situation, the objective of this research was analyse and know what tools have been used to measure the dissatisfaction and distortion of body image and body stereotypes in infant children. For this purpose, 20 articles were reviewed from the databases Web of Science, Proquest and Eric, SAGEjournals and Science Direct from 2005 to 2015. The results show that with the passage of time, the scale of 7 silhouettes created by Collis (1991) has been adapted decreasing or increasing the number of, or by changing their skin colour and other physical aspects to the drawings. In addition, new technologies have allowed the development of more sophisticated instruments such as scales photographs that offer more and allow incorporate the faces of the participants into silhouettes. To study the prejudices toward obesity have also been created games, stories, changed body mass index of Barbies and visualized film clips. In conclusion it is important to highlight the need to validate an instrument in Spanish to know and deep on the development of body image pre-schoolers in Spain.
