Abstract
Description
Genre: Medicine/huru. Bapak Pui described no less than ten huru, of his arsenal, on this occasion. I recorded in the afternoon, with the AT2020 mic, sitting in the main, front room, my "studio". This is 'huru kua' (huru papaya). It is a sign/prohibition that is hung in fruit trees. One can hang the leaves or even the fruit by the stem of the tree(s) that one intends to protect. Symtom: itchy nose, in nostrils. Cure: Chew papaya with areca nut, piper betel and lime, apply to the nose. Present at the recordingwere: his daughter and son, a nephew, and wife, outside on the bamboo plattform. Other listeners, neighbour kids, passed by as usual, peeking in by the window or doors.
