Issues of co-location of Fischer-Tropsch and algae plants in alternative jet fuel production

This study was to investigate the issues preventing the co-location of Fischer-Tropsch (coal-to-fuel) and algae plants in alternative jet fuel production. The literatures reviewed were those solely associated with alternative aviation fuels for the F-T and algae processing methods. After identifying the experts in this area, an interview instrument was used to collect the experts' opinions on the issues. The unknown costs associated with co-location were the main reasons for this study in highlighting the barriers and issues why the industry - in whole or in part - has not pursued the co-location of F-T and algae plants.
