Keeping Students Engaged in an online Course

This instructor integrates a Fun Facts Quiz and Discussion as a way to engage students in understanding and analyzing the ways in which they evaluate information, particularly as an incoming college student. After the short quiz, students engage in a fun discussion about the results from their quiz. One Fun Fact stated: JELL-O brand gelatin is made from bones and hides. A student reported "I've been eating Jello since I was a kid and I have never thought of looking up what it was made of. Kind of makes me want to search up lots of other things." Students enjoy reading and responding to their classmates' posts while reporting that the activity significantly changed the way they think about knowledge and research.
