ResumenThin layer chromatography is known to be a good analytical method for the study of flavonoids in vegetal extracts. Standards of different flavonoids, most of them cited as components of leaves, wood and bark of species of the genus Eucalyptus, have been chromatographed on cellulose and silica gel plates. Several solvents and spray reagents are described, and relations between structure, mobility and colour reactions are discussed. Twodimensional chromatography on cellulose seems to be the best separation system, and monodimensional chromatography on silica is a good method for the identification of flavonoids, considering the relationship between Rf and structure and the specific colours which can be obtained with various spray reagents. Monodimensional chromatography on cellulose also provides valuable information. © 1992 Friedr. Vieweg & Sohn Verlagsgeschaft mbH.
