Judeus e Muçulmanos em Casablanca: discurso e prática. Estratégias de espacialização e (re)territorialização e a afirmação da identidade dos judeus de Marrocos

Abstract

O objectivo deste projeto é preparar as bases para uma investigação que permita revisitar a natureza das relações entre judeus e muçulmanos em Marrocos no século XXI. Pretende-­‐se, em particular, investigar e problematizar a existência e permanência, na atualidade, do que terão sido os processos e as modalidades de territorialização das populações judias nos espaços urbanos de maioria muçulmana em Marrocos. Uma análise da permanência destes processos de territorialização no séc. XXI e da existência de circuitos, formais ou informais, “espontâneos” ou estratégicos que permitam a circulação e a concentração territorializada de uns adentro do espaço “dos outros”, como parece ainda verificar-­‐se nalgumas cidades de Marrocos, ajudará a questionar algumas construções teóricas institucionais sobre as relações entre as duas comunidades e, espera-­‐se, a conseguir uma perspectiva emic das mesmas. Simultaneamente, a análise destas modalidades e da sua eventual continuidade histórica, mesmo depois do fim da imposição da sua existência, poderá́ contribuir para o estudo das formas de espacialização “informal” e dos processos de criação de lugar em contextos inter-­‐religiosos e intercomunitários. De igual modo, espera-­‐se com esta investigação revisitar e questionar algumas questões relacionadas com a criação de memória em contextos diaspóricos, em particular os processos de (re)criação de uma memória histórica e vernacular assente no ideário da convivência intercomunitária, cruzando-­‐os com as noções de diáspora e de pertença.

The aim of this project is to pave the way for an investigation which will revisit the nature of the relations between Jews and Muslims in Morocco in the 21st century. In particular, it intends to investigate and problematize the existence and permanence, in the present time, of what would have been the processes and modalities of territorialisation of the Jewish populations in the urban spaces of Muslim majority in Morocco. An analysis of the permanence of these processes of territorialisation in the 21st century. and the existence of formal or informal, "spontaneous" or strategic circuits that allow the circulation and territorial concentration of “some” through the space of "others" -­‐ as it still seems to exist in some cities of Morocco -­‐, will help to question some theoretical constructions built upon the relations between the two communities and, hopefully, to reach an emic perspective of those relations. At the same time, the analysis of these modalities and their possible historical continuity, should contribute to the study of "informal" spatialisation and of the processes of creation of place in inter-­‐religious and inter-­‐community contexts. Likewise, it is hoped that this investigation will revisit and question some issues related to the creation of memory in diasporical contexts, in particular the processes of (re) creation of a historical and vernacular memory based on the idea of intercommunity coexistence crossing it with the notions of diaspora and belonging.
