In search for the holy grail: EDP’s new home energy management service

Abstract

Since the technological innovations of recent years, home energy management solutions have started to gain relevance within the environment of smarthomes. This new role can be either harmful or beneficial for energy companies, as new business opportunities arise. EDP Comercial is on the search for the “holy grail” solution that will enable it to re-enter this brand new category, following EDP re:dy’s failure. After an in-depth research and analysis, the authors have developed a marketing plan for EDP homee, a new business model that will revolutionize the Portuguese Home Energy Management solution category, thus allowing EDP Comercial to reach the desired mass market solution.
