Abstract
This dissertation evaluates Bill Bright's theology of evangelism and methodology of discipleship to determine whether he was orthodox in his beliefs. Chapter 1 introduces criticisms made regarding Bright's beliefs and practices. Chapter 2 looks at the life of Bill Bright by covering his life---pre-conversion, his conversion, his marriage to Vonette, the founding of Campus Crusade, and his death in 2003. Chapter 3 examines Bright's theological beliefs regarding the key components of the gospel. Chapter 4 covers Bright's use of evangelistic tools such as the Four Spiritual Laws and the JESUS film to evaluate his beliefs. Additionally, this chapter covers Bright's apologetic approach to establish how he defended the faith. Chapter 5 describes Bright's methodology of discipleship to determine whether his methodology is both biblical and useful for discipling new believers today. Chapter 6 summarizes my conclusions regarding the criticisms of Bright's theology of evangelism and methodology of discipleship, and areas for further study are noted as well.
