À descoberta do Ártico no jardim de infância: o contributo dos materiais naturais e do quotidiano na aprendizagem das crianças

Abstract(s)
O nosso planeta Terra, assim como a mãe Natureza estão vivos, em expansão e em constante evolução pelo Universo. Se olharmos com outra perspetiva para o nosso planeta e para tudo o que ele abarca, podemos vislumbrar a Terra como uma gigante máquina biológica que viaja pelo Infinito, ou seja, é como se de um “meio de transporte” se tratasse, permitindo-nos viajar pelo cosmos, mas também evoluir como seres humanos, pela simples razão de existirmos Nela. Importa, portanto, dar a conhecer e sensibilizar as crianças sobre as diversas formas de vida existentes na Terra, assim como, enfatizar a relevância de a preservar, estimando os seus recursos naturais.
O estudo pretendeu compreender de que forma as aprendizagens das crianças de três a seis anos de idade poderão ser enriquecidas com a introdução de materiais naturais e do quotidiano na descoberta do Ártico. Ambicionou-se, também, averiguar de que modo as Artes Visuais, como técnicas e estratégias de exploração, poderão contribuir para ampliar os seus conhecimentos.
Neste sentido, foi escolhido pelas crianças o gelado Ártico como zona a explorar, por ser uma região que lhes suscitou interesse em conhecer e descobrir. Foram investigadas as suas caraterísticas geográficas, alguns aspetos populacionais e culturais e abordados alguns animais polares.
Para este efeito, utilizou-se uma metodologia de caráter qualitativo centrada no estudo de caso e, para tal, recorreu-se a diversas técnicas e instrumentos de recolha de dados, tais como: a observação participante, as notas de campo, o inquérito por entrevista e os registos multimédia.
No que respeita aos resultados, não foi possível chegar a uma conclusão concreta, mas a possíveis deduções com base no desenvolvimento do tema do projeto investigativo, devido ao encerramento das instituições, consequente da atual situação de pandemia. Estas deduções foram fruto da análise e reflexão de diversos elementos, tais como os comportamentos, as reações, as atitudes, os comentários, as brincadeiras, as produções, mas, sobretudo os diálogos e os debates entre as crianças.
Our planet Earth, as well as “mother” nature, is alive, expanding and constantly evolving through the Universe. If we look at our planet from another perspective, with everything it entails, we can see Earth as a giant biological machine travelling through Infinity, as if it were a “means of transportation”, allowing us to travel through the cosmos, but also evolve as human beings, for the mere reason of existing in It. It matters, then, to educate our children and raise their awareness about the multiple life forms existing on planet Earth, as well as the importance of preserving it and valuing its natural resources. This study’s end goal was to understand in what way the introduction of natural and everyday materials in the discovery of the Arctic can shape and enrich this learning process in children aged three to six. It was also intended to study the ways in which the visual arts, techniques and exploration strategies can contribute to expand their knowledge. In this sense, the frozen Arctic was chosen by the children, for being a region they were curious to want to explore and find out more about. Its geographic characteristics were investigated, as well as some other aspects regarding population and culture, and also the animal diversity of this area. To this effect a methodology of qualitative character was used, centered around a case study in which the following instruments for data collection were used: participant observation, field notes, interview survey and multimedia records. As far as results, it wasn’t possible to come to a concrete conclusion due to the closing down of institutions that came as a consequence of the current pandemic situation. It was however possible to draw deductions based on the investigative process made from the introduction of this theme. These deductions were the result of the analysis and reflection of several elements, such as behaviors, reactions, attitudes, comments, the playtime, the productions, but above all the dialogues and debates between children.
