Imagem corporal e vivĂȘncias sexuais em mulheres com cancro da mama

Abstract(s)
Este trabalho teve como objectivo o estudo da imagem corporal e das vivĂȘncias
sexuais, em mulheres com cancro da mama.
A amostra foi constituĂda por vinte mulheres com cancro da mama, submetidas a uma
cirurgia (mastectomia ou cirurgia conservadora). Todas as participantes eram casadas ou
viviam em uniĂŁo de facto.
A metodologia utilizada foi: um questionĂĄrio sĂłcio-demĂłgrafico, a Escala de
Ajustamento Conjugal para pessoas com DeficiĂȘncia Adquirida e a Escala de Imagem
Corporal âComo Me Relaciono Com o Meu Corpoâ.
Os resultados obtidos apontaram para a inexistĂȘncia de relação entre as variĂĄveis
imagem corporal e qualidade das vivĂȘncias sexuais, nĂŁo se podendo concluir que exista, de
facto, uma mudança na vida sexual causada pela alteração da imagem corporal fomentada
pela mastectomia ou cirurgia conservadora. Constatou-se, no entanto, a existĂȘncia de
problemĂĄtica ao nĂvel da imagem corporal.
ABSTRACT: The main objective of this work is the study of the corporal image and sexual experiences in women with breast cancer. The sample was constituted by twenty womens with breast cancer that have been submitted to a surgery (mastectomy or conservative surgery). All the participants were married or live in civil union. To evaluate the variables in study it was used: a social-demographic questionary, Marital Adjustment Checklist for the Disabled and the corporal image scale âComo Me Relaciono Com o Meu Corpoâ. The obtained results point to inexistence of relations between the variables corporal image and quality of sexual experiences, not being able to conclude that there is, in fact, a change in the sexual life cause by the change of the corporal image by the mastectomy or conservative surgery. However, it was noted the existence of some problems linked with the corporal image.
