Inovação nas IPSS com respostas sociais para pessoas idosas da zona Norte de Portugal

Abstract

A inovação nasce do valor real da sua própria palavra, como algo novo, revolucionário, que implica uma mudança e cria novidade, o que demonstra a envolvência genuína das intervenções no seu sentido. Inovar é um resultado visível, que representa a solução para um problema, mais do que utilizar a palavra inovar, é importante fazer diferente e caminhar na resolução dos problemas, de forma eficaz. Com a criação de um impato positivo nas pessoas, nas mentalidades, nos processos, nas organizações e nos resultados, ou seja, na qualidade de vida e no desenvolvimento humano. Perante este cenário, tornou-se pertinente abordar a inovação no setor social. Com vista a contribuir para os estudos empíricos na área da inovação, a presente dissertação tem como objetivo promover o conhecimento de inovação nas Instituições Particulares de Solidariedade Social (IPSS) com respostas sociais para pessoas idosas da região Norte de Portugal, abrangendo os distritos de Braga, Bragança, Porto, Vila Real e Viana do Castelo. O estudo inclui dois métodos de investigação: quantitativa e qualitativa. Na vertente quantitativa são utilizadas escalas já aplicados noutras dimensões do setor social, com dois questionários, sendo o primeiro aplicado aos diretores técnicos das IPSS com respostas sociais para pessoas idosas e o segundo aos colaboradores das instituições com respostas sociais para pessoas idosas. Na análise qualitativa são realizadas três entrevistas semi-estruturadas com recurso ao software NVivo 12 (ferramenta de análise de dados qualitativos criada pela QSR International), de forma a definir e identificar acções de inovação nas IPSS. Ainda se pretende perceber o efeito que cada dimensão/determinante de inovação na efetiva criatividade e inovação na instituição. Os resultados obtidos aferem que as IPSS com respostas sociais para pessoas idosas apresentam inovação, relacionando os vários tipos de inovação. Sugerem, também, que nestas IPSS, com respostas sociais para pessoas idosas, a orientação da aprendizagem, a tomada de risco e a satisfação com o trabalho têm um impacto positivo na inovação. O desenvolvimento do estudo coopera para uma melhor tomada de decisão na gestão das IPSS, tal como na tomada de decisão no momento de inovar nas IPSS.

Innovation is born from the real value of its own word, as something new, revolutionary, which implies a change and that creates newness, which demonstrates the genuine involvement of interventions in its sense. Innovation is used in various business contexts, with great emphasis on the implementation of mechanisms, in terms of creative aspects with results in the different sectors. Innovate is not only about creating new ideas it’s also making improvements to an existing situation, to achieve other results or, at the corporate level, to obtain more profits. Innovation means a significant positive change. It is a visible result, which represents the solution to a problem. More than using the word "innovate", it is important to do differently and to walk the resolution of problems, in an effective way, for different audiences. In order to innovate is necessary a significant and positive impact on people, mentalities, processes, organizations, and results must be provoked. So, innovate is create, transform and provoke a positive impact in several aspects, in particular, the quality of life and in human development. In this context, it has become pertinent to analyze innovation in the third sector. The third sector is the sociological terminology to designate all private initiatives of public utility originating from civil society. It involves a whole mechanism of social actions with numerous responses and types of intervention. Its main function is essentially related to the responses created and presented to citizens throughout its existence. With a view to contribute for the empirical studies in the area of innovation, this dissertation aims to promote the knowledge of innovation in Private Social Solidarity Institutions with social responses for older people in the North of Portugal, covering the districts of Braga, Bragança, Porto, Vila Real, and Viana do Castelo. The study includes two research methods: quantitative and qualitative. On the quantitative side, scales already applied in other dimensions of the social sector are used, with two questionnaires, the first being applied to the technical directors of IPSS with social answers for older people and the second to the employees of institutions with social answers for older people. In the qualitative analysis, three semi-structured interviews are conducted using the NVivo 12 software (qualitative data analysis tool created by QSR International) in order to define and identify innovation actions in the IPSS. It is also intended to understand the effect that each dimension/determinant of innovation has on effective creativity and innovation in the institution. The obtained results show that the IPSS with social responses for older people present innovation, relating the various types of innovation. They also suggest that in these IPSSs, with social responses for older people, learning orientation, risk-taking and job satisfaction have a positive impact on innovation.
