Abstract(s)
Promoting the rights of children and young people is a commitment that requires protection and defense for children and young people around the world. In other words, we must look at the promotion of the rights of children and young people as a mission in which we must all protect and defend, in a world today that is increasingly individualistic and indifferent to priorities and values. This is how the Adélia Project emerges, with the ambition to create a Local Plan for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Children and Young People covering the theme of Positive Parenthood, in this particular case in the county of Ponte de Sor, district of Portalegre. The theme of positive parenting emerged in this plan, given the typology of problems with higher incidence, the fact that children and young people are exposed to situations in the family environment, negligent and disruptive that compromises their welfare and with serious consequences to their full development, especially behaviors assumed by young people themselves that put them in danger and others, highlights the urgent need for preventive action in positive parenting education. This plan had as a general objective, to support positive parenting, as the promotion of the rights of children and youth, and as specific objectives, to implement measures to combat the problems diagnosed, in a planned and integrated way, in order to promote the rights and protect children and youth in danger, in the county of Ponte de Sor, ensuring their welfare, full development and happiness. The plan was structured based on a diagnosis, with the participation not only of the local CPCJ of Ponte de Sor, but also the municipal social network, the community and children and youth, recognizing their citizenship status. The diagnosis came about through a questionnaire organized by three groups: children, young people and families, to which 302 children responded, corresponding to a response rate of 41% approximately; 479 young people, corresponding to 56% approximately, of response rate, and finally, 313 families of the county. In function of the problems identified with greater incidence, such as the existence of disruptive and negligent family environment situations compromising the well-being of children and young people, intervention axes were established in order to give continuity to the defense and guarantee of the rights of children and young people in this municipality.
