Indicadores Psicológicos e Biomédicos e Orientação Sexual

Abstract

Esta dissertação é apresentada em formato de artigo científico. O objetivo geral deste projeto de investigação é "Analisar e comparar as diferenças do funcionamento psicológico e biomédico entre participantes gays, lésbicas, bissexuais e heterossexuais". Depois, foram perspetivados alguns objetivos mais específicos, tais como: 1) Analisar e comparar o funcionamento psicopatológico entre participantes gays, lésbicas, bissexuais e heterossexuais; 2) Analisar e comparar o funcionamento sexual entre participantes gays, lésbicas, bissexuais e heterossexuais, e 3) Analisar e comparar os comportamentos suicidários entre participantes gays, lésbicas, bissexuais e heterossexuais. Este é um estudo comparativo, do tipo descritivo, correlacionai e transversal e conta com 727 participantes, sendo 240 homens e 480 mulheres. Relativamente à orientação sexual, a presente amostra contém 538 participantes que se identificam como heterossexuais, 124 participantes que se identificam como homossexuais e 63 participantes que se identificam como bissexuais. Toda a informação respeitante à metodologia e resultados do artigo são apresentados no corpo do artigo. Para além do artigo, esta investigação conta com um anexo teórico onde são desenvolvidos detalhadamente todos os construtos abordados e acrescentadas outras temáticas relevantes para a compreensão deste estudo, de modo a aprofundar e consolidar os fundamentos teóricos do presente artigo empírico.

Then, some more specific objectives were explored, such as: 1) Analyse and compare the psychopathological functioning between gay, lesbian, bisexual and heterosexual participants; 2) Analyse and compare sexual functioning between gay, lesbian, bisexual and heterosexual participants; and 3) Analyse and compare suicidai behaviour between gay, lesbian, bisexual and heterosexual participants. This is a comparative , descriptive , correlational and cross -sectional study, with 727 participants, 240 men and 480 women. Regarding sexual orientation, the present sample contains 538 participants who identify themselves as heterosexual, 124 participants who identify themselves as homosexual, and 63 participants who identlfy themselves as bisexual. All the information regarding methodology and results are presented in the article. ln addition to the article, this research has a theoretical annex where all the constructs addressed are developed in detail and other re!levant themes are added to the understanding of this study, to deepen and consolidate the theoretical foundations of the present empirical article.
