Núcleo Megalítico dos Fiais-Azenha (Carregal do Sal, Portugal): um balanço

Abstract

Apresenta-se aqui um balanço de 33 anos de investigação arqueológica na plataforma do Mondego, em especial no concelho de Carregal do Sal. Um dos aspetos mais marcantes foi sem dúvida o reconhecimento da existência de uma ocupação do Neolítico antigo, bem como a relação entre estas primeiras comunidades, a sua evolução e posteriormente o arranque do fenómeno megalítico na região. Julgamos que estas comunidades desenvolveram formas de subsistência e de apropriação do território, que foram cristalizadas no planeamento, construção e orientação dos sepulcros megalíticos da plataforma. Esta inter-relação irá manter-se bem até momentos mais tardios, já integráveis na Idade do Bronze regional.

We present here a balance of 33 years of archaeological research on the Mondego platform, especially in the municipality of Carregal do Sal. One of the most striking aspects was undoubtedly the recognition of the existence of an occupation from the ancient Neolithic period, as well as the relation between these early communities, their evolution and later the megalithic phenomenon in the region. We believe that these communities developed forms of subsistence and appropriation of the territory, which were crystallized in the planning, construction and orientation of the megalithic tombs of the platform. This interrelationship will continue until later times, in communities of the regional Bronze Age.
