Os modos de aprendizagem usados pelos aprendentes chineses de PLE - intencional ou incidental

Abstract

As estratégias de aprendizagem de línguas estrangeiras têm sido um tema muito estudado na área de ensino-aprendizagem de língua estrangeira. Contudo, há pouca investigação que distinga entre estratégias de aprendizagem de vocabulário em termos de aprendizagem incidental/intencional. Os aprendentes chineses de língua caraterizam-se pela sua preferência por estratégias mnemónicas para aprendizagem de vocabulário, o que despertou o interesse da investigação de uso de aprendizagem incidental de vocabulário (AINCV) deste trabalho. O presente trabalho destina-se a investigar os modos de aprendizagem de vocabulário utilizados pelos aprendentes chineses de português como língua estrangeira (PLE) e, além disso, investigar também se o nível de vocabulário, duração de aprendizagem e contexto de aprendizagem influenciam o uso dos dois modos de aprendizagem. Emprega-se um questionário adaptado do inventário das estratégias de Zhao (2013), composto por 18 estratégias intencionais e 15 estratégias incidentais. O nível de vocabulário é classificado de acordo com os resultados do teste lexical, denominado LextPT (Zhou & Li, 2021). Os resultados revelam que os respondentes utilizam principalmente o modo de aprendizagem intencional, complementado pelo modo de aprendizagem incidental, e que a prática de AINCV se mostra sempre limitada pelo nível de vocabulário do aprendente e pelo contexto de aprendizagem, enquanto a aprendizagem intencional de vocabulário (AINTV) é limitada pela duração de aprendizagem. Espera-se que o presente trabalho possa contribuir para o desenvolvimento do ensino-aprendizagem de vocabulário da língua portuguesa como língua estrangeira.

Foreign language learning strategies have been a much-studied topic in the field of foreign language teaching-learning. However, there is little research that distinguishes between vocabulary learning strategies in terms of incidental/intentional learning. Chinese language learners are characterized by their preference for mnemonic strategies for vocabulary learning, which sparked the interest of this paper's incidental vocabulary learning usage research. The present paper is designed to investigate the vocabulary learning modes used by Chinese learners of Portuguese as a foreign language and, furthermore, investigate whether vocabulary level, learning duration and learning context influence the use of the two learning modes. We employ a questionnaire adapted from the strategy inventory of Zhao (2013), consisting of 18 inentional strategies and 15 incidental strategies. Vovabulary level is classified according to the results of the lexical test, called LextPT (Zhou & Li, 2021). The results reveal that respondents mainly use the intentional learning mode, supplemented by the incidental learning mode, and that the use of incidental vocabulary learning is always shown to be limited by learner's vocabulary level and learning context, while the use of intentional vocabulary learning is limited by learning duration. Finally, it is expected that the present work contributes to the teaching-learning of vocabulary of Portuguese as a foreign language.
