    Digitization of academic records at institutions of higher learning

    Abstract
    This study was about digitization of academic records in institutions of higher learning. Digitization is an important aspect for institution to keep safely their academic records. In this age of technology, institutions are adopting the use of accessing information online thus institutions are utilizing to digitize its documents online so that they can minimize the losses incurred with manual records keeping. The study unveiled the concept of records and records management, significance of records management, types of records in the higher learning institutions, challenges faced when managing records thus the need to introduce digitization of records. The study identified the factors leading to digitization of records, relevancy of digitization process and the different stages in digitizing documents. The challenges encountered in the digitization process and their possible strategies. The study suggested the possible recommendations for effective digitization process in the institutions of higher learning
