Abstract: | This thesis is divided into six chapters The First chapter is an introductory section on crystals crystal growth technique nonlinear optics characterization technique and review of literature An ideal crystal is one which has ordered arrangement of atoms or molecules and the surroundings of an atom would be the same as the surroundings of every similar atom Recent advancements in the field of solid state lasers transducers infrared detectors microelectronics nonlinear optics and computer industries shows the importance of single crystals Nonlinear Optics NLO is the branch of optics which studies the consequence of the modification of the optical properties of a material system in the presence of light In the year 1961 Franken et al discovered the second harmonic generation It is a nonlinear optical process that converts the frequency and energy of the input laser light Frequency of the laser light is doubled when it passes through the nonlinear optical material Various characterization tools were performed on the grown crystals In the present work the amino acids glycine L alanine were selected and synthesized using slow evaporation solution growth technique at low temperature by adding lithium nitrate potassium chloride and phosphorus respectively Guanidinium L glutamate and 3 aminonitrobenzene were also synthesized. newline |
