Organização das referências bibliográficas: o uso do EndNote

Abstract

A sociedade do conhecimento e da informação é caracterizada pela prioridade da informação e pelas competências necessárias à sua obtenção e utilização. É crucial dar importância à evolução contínua das tecnologias da informação e comunicação. A sociedade do conhecimento é indissociável das Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TIC). Devido ao crescimento da produção, da informação e à variedade de meios e suportes em que estas se expressam, há interesse em usar as tecnologias na organização das referências bibliográficas em artigos de investigação, livros, comunicações e dissertações. As tecnologias têm favorecido a organização, sistematização e gestão da bibliografia. Garcia, Rodero e Arévalo (2009) referem que uma das ferramentas de maior utilidade para os investigadores são os gestores de referências bibliográficas pela sua capacidade de compilar, armazenar e formatar a informação em diferentes formatos, fontes e tipos de documentos. O presente estudo tem como principal finalidade averiguar as estratégias e ferramentas tecnológicas utilizadas pelos investigadores na organização das referências bibliográficas nos projetos de investigação, na Universidade de Aveiro. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas a investigadores da Universidade de Aveiro que utilizam e não utilizam o EndNote, para averiguar as estratégias que usam para a organização das referências bibliográficas. Para a análise qualitativa de conteúdo foi utilizado o software webQDA. Os resultados obtidos revelam que na opinião dos investigadores o EndNote é uma ferramenta muito útil e facilita a organização das referências bibliográficas.

The knowledge and information society is characterized by the priority of the information and the required competences to obtain and use it. It is crucial to give importance to the continuous evolution of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The knowledge society is not dissociable from Information and Communication Technology. Due to the growth of production of information and to the variety of means and media and in which they are expressed, there is interest in using technology in the organization of bibliographic references in research articles, books, communications and dissertations. Organization and management of bibliographic references have benefited from technologies. Garcia, Rodero and Arévalo (2009) refer that one of the most useful tools for researchers are the managers of bibliographic references for their ability to compile, store and format the information in different formats, sources and types of documents. The main purpose of this study is to ascertain the strategies and technological tools used by researchers in organization of bibliographic referencs of research projects at the University of Aveiro. Semi-structured interviews have been conducted with researchers of University of Aveiro, using and not using Endnote, to find out the strategies they use to organize the bibliographic references. For the content quality analysis it was used webQDA software. The obtained results reveal that researchers believe that the EndNote is a very useful tool and it facilitates the organization of bibliographic references.
