Abstract
A recent conference arranged by the Centre for Human Bioethics at Australia's Monash University considered the ethical issues raised by in vitro fertilization and related technologies. While many participants supported the traditional Roman Catholic view that man should not intrude into the origin of human life, the author of this brief article sees the important questions as involving medicolegal difficulties and the allocation of scarce medical resources.
