Resumen/Abstract
A new simple technique to modify the Brillouin scattering gain spectrum in optical fibers is presented. It is based on the superposition of the Brillouin scattering gain spectra of several concatenated fibers. The overall spectrum is the superposition of the specific spectra of each fiber. Customized gain spectra can be obtained by choosing the appropriate fiber combination. These technique has been successfully checked in the laboratory with a wide set of experiments. For instance, several pieces of different SMF have been combined to build up an M-shaped Brillouin gain curve with a bandwidth of 280 nm. The reject band is placed 10.78 GHz away from the pump frequency.
