Through this research will be investigated the current profile of the Spanish freelance travel journalist. At first, will be analysed the beginning of travel journalism. This way, it will be possible to define how the current professional scene for journalists is and how has been its evolution.
Then, will be studied the scene's influence on the travel journalist profile in Spain, by making a qualitative analysis. This analysis is composed by in-depth interviews, thereby we will be able to know the professional conditions, ways of working and the reality they are living.
Also, the reader will be able to see the evolution of this Spanish journalist profile. In addition, will be exposed and analysed some new working techniques, such as blogs, own websites... Therefore, concludes in a new profile of the Spanish freelance travel journalist, who needs to diversify her/his sources of income.
In this way, one of the conclusions of the research is that the majority of this kind of journalist freelance is unable to work exclusivity on this area. So, that new scene has affected their work in some way. At the same time, 52,38% of the sample submitted that not professional people pose a threat to the journalism. Because bloggers and travelers write in the travel journalism area for free.
In the other hand, another conclusion from the report is the current precarious labour situation of Spanish freelance on this area. This situation can be seen as a direct result of the bad contractual relations with the media, who abuse of them. The media had been able to benefit from these relationships and they have adapted their business model to the new reality.
