ÖZ:
Bu çalışmada, Kıbrıs’ın kuzeyindeki ilkokullarda kullanılan Hayat Bilgisi ve
Sosyal Bilgiler kitapları cinsiyetçilik bağlamında incelenmiş ve Kıbrıs’ın
kuzeyindeki ilkokullarda görev yapmakta olan sınıf öğretmenlerinin cinsiyetçilik
algıları ölçülmüştür. Araştırmanın deseni karma desenlerden üçgenleme olup,
araştırmanın nicel kısmında Cinsiyetçilik Algısı Ölçeği ile tarama yapılmış, nitel
kısmında ise Kıbrıs’ın kuzeyindeki ilkokullarda kullanılan toplam 9 adet Hayat
Bilgisi ve Sosyal Bilgiler kitabının metin ve görselleri nitel içerik analizi yöntemi ile
analiz edilmiştir. Nitel içerik analizinde cinsiyet temsili, aile içi roller ve görevler,
meslekler, kişilik özellikleri ve aktiviteler olmak üzere toplam 5 kategori
kullanılmıştır. Anket sonuçlarına göre kadın öğretmenlerin toplumsal yapıdaki
cinsiyetçilik algılarının, MEB uygulamalarındaki cinsiyetçilik algılarının, sınıf
ortamındaki cinsiyetçilik algılarının, kişisel inanç ve değerlere bağlı cinsiyetçilik
algılarının ve cinsiyetçilik algısı toplam puanlarının erkek öğretmenlere göre daha
yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. 20-30 yaş aralığındaki öğretmenlerin toplumsal yapıdaki
cinsiyetçilik algılarının diğer yaş aralıklarına göre daha yüksek olduğu görülmüştür.
Bununla birlikte Hayat Bilgisi ders kitaplarında erkeklerin temsiliyetinin daha fazla
olduğu, Sosyal Bilgiler kitabında neredeyse eşit olduğu ancak içeriğe bakıldığı
zaman eşitliğin mevcut olmadığı görülmüştür. Erkekler ev ortamından uzak, kadınlar
çoğunlukla ev işlerini yapan ve çocukla ilgilenen kişiler olarak betimlenmiş,
mesleklerin büyük çoğunluğunu erkekler temsil etmiş, kadınlara atanan meslekler
genellikle bakım, ilgi ve hizmet gerektiren meslekler olmuştur. Öğretmenlerin
cinsiyetçilik algılarının ders kitaplarındaki cinsiyetçi yazı ve metinlerin tamamını
fark etmek için yeterli olmadığı görülmüştür.
In this study, Life Studies and Social Studies books used in primary schools
in the north of Cyprus were examined in the context of sexism and the perceptions of
sexism of classroom teachers working in primary schools in the north of Cyprus were
measured. Triangulation method as one of the mixed method designs was used and in
the quantitative part of the research, the Sexism Perception Scale was adopted and in
the qualitative part, the text and visuals of 9 Life Studies and Social Studies books
used in primary schools in the north of Cyprus were analyzed by qualitative content
analysis method. In the qualitative content analysis, a total of 5 categories were used:
gender representation, family roles and duties, occupations, personality traits and
activities. According to the results of the survey, it was seen that female teachers'
perceptions of sexism in the social structure, perceptions of sexism in Ministry of
Education practices, perceptions of sexism in the classroom environment, sexism
perceptions based on personal beliefs and values, and sexism perception total scores
were higher than male teachers. It has been observed that the perception of sexism in
the social structure of teachers in the 20-30 age range is higher than other age ranges.
Nevertheless, the representation of males in the life studies textbooks was higher
whereas the representation of both males and females in the Social Sciences
textbooks were almost equal though there seemed to be no equality when the content
wise analysis was carried out. Males are described as being away from the home
environment, females are mostly doing housework and taking care of children, the
majority of the professions are represented by males, and the professions assigned to
females are generally those that require care, attention and service.
