Resumen
The purpose of this research is to address the existent conflict in the use of current technological tools in the arts. Such use has become widespread since the second half of the 20th century, and consists of including technologies such as video and digital sound in the living arts. The conflict relies on the fact that technology suppresses the viewer's sensitive experience with reality and with the living arts. According to Jean Baudrillard's theory of hyperreality, current technological tools have been supplanting reality by a simulation of that we assume as true. Therefore, the use of technology in the arts implies the risk of promoting such desensitization. This paper summarizes a part of the history of multimedia arts, which contain different artistic expressions and have used technology as a part of their expression.
