Este estudo analisa a apropriação territorial da região de Ipeúna/SP, considerando como recorte a região que abrange o município de Ipeúna, bem como áreas próximas às divisas com os municípios limítrofes de Piracicaba, Charqueada, Itirapina e Rio Claro, compreendendo o período a partir de meados do século XVII. Objetiva-se apreender o início e a consolidação da ocupação desse território, bem como investigar os vários agentes envolvidos nesse processo de povoamento, a partir do entendimento de sua relação com o contexto local e regional. Trata-se, aqui, das transformações ocorridas após a constituição dos primeiros caminhos, identifica as sesmarias doadas, e acompanha as fragmentações ocorridas por meio dos primeiros registros oficiais de seus desmembramentos, atrelados aos agentes condicionantes que ocasionaram a organização do espaço e as transformações de sua paisagem em decorrência dos fatores históricos, sociais, econômicos, políticos, construtivos, culturais e geográficos. Para realizá-lo, primeiramente consultou-se vasta documentação primária, em cartórios de diversas comarcas, arquivos públicos, e se buscou sustentação teórica em importantes autores nas áreas de interesse da presente pesquisa, além de trabalhos de memorialistas e relatos orais, cuja contribuição é a de ampliar e compartilhar o conhecimento da história local e regional do município em pauta, assim como a de seus personagens, diminuindo as lacunas existentes na historiografia da organização espacial e fundiária desse território.

This study analyzes the territorial appropriation of the region of Ipeúna/SP, considering as a cutout the region that covers the town of Ipeúna, as well as areas close to the borders with the neighboring cities of Piracicaba, Charqueada, Itirapina and Rio Claro, covering the period as from the mid-17th century. The objective is to understand the beginning and consolidation of the occupation of this territory, as well as to investigate the various agents involved in this settlement process, as from the understanding of its relationship with the local and regional context. Here, it deals with the transformations occurred after the constitution of the first paths, it identifies the donated allotments, and it follows the fragmentations that occurred through the first official records of their dismemberments, linked to the conditioning agents that caused the organization of space and the transformations of its landscape as a result of historical, social, economic, political, constructive, cultural and geographic factors. In order to carry it out, first, extensive primary documentation was consulted in notary offices of various counties, public archives, and theoretical support was sought from important authors in the areas of interest of this research, in addition to works by memorialists and oral reports, whose contribution is to expand and share the knowledge of the local and regional history of the municipality in question, as well as that of its characters, reducing the existing gaps in the historiography of the spatial and land organization of this territory.
