Abstract

An important task in the modelling effort for the Galveston Bay Study is the development of dynamic temperature model. In order to be used in the quality management process, the temperature model must predict both spatial and temporal variations in water temperature throughout the extent of Galveston Bay, while maintaining the capability of providing detailed information in the immediate area of a source of heated effluent, such as near the outfall of cooling water from an electric power generating plant. Both seasonal and diurnal variations in water temperature must be produced by the model. The spatial and temporal detail of the model must be flexible enough to adapt to the particular application being studied.
