Development of a health chatbot
Abstract
Development of a Health Chatbot: Improving Patient-Centered Care The rapid advancement of technology has ushered in a new era of healthcare, where innovative solutions are redefining patient-centered care. This dissertation explores the development and feasibility of a health chatbot system designed to enhance the patient experience, streamline healthcare interactions, and improve healthcare outcomes. The introduction provides an overview of the growing role of chatbots in healthcare and highlights the need for a patientcentric approach to care. The research objectives and questions are outlined, and the scope and limitations of the study are defined. The literature review offers a comprehensive analysis of chatbot usage in healthcare, the evolution of chatbot technology, and the technical development of chatbots. It delves into the benefits and challenges associated with chatbots in healthcare and investigates patients' perceptions of these systems. Chapter 3, the Methodology, outlines the project's goals, system analysis, and the development methodology. The chosen technology stack, including Python, PHP, HTML and JavaScript is discussed. The feasibility study, detailed in Chapter 5, involves assessing the chatbot's impact on patient-centered care, user satisfaction, and healthcare efficiency. The study employs mixed methods, including surveys, interviews, and data analysis, to gather insights from healthcare professionals and patients. The dissertation concludes by summarizing the findings of the feasibility study and offering recommendations for the chatbot's integration and development in healthcare settings. These recommendations include seamless integration with healthcare systems, continuous learning mechanisms, user training and support, data security, and the exploration of expanded use cases.
