Impacts of Energetic Electron Precipitation on the atmosphere during January to April 2008.
Abstract
The project examines the impacts of energetic electron precipitation on the atmosphere focusing mainly on the upper atmosphere. It looks at how energetic electron precipitation impacts the variation of the OH in the atmosphere particularly at an altitude of 78km.It is observed that an increase in Energetic Electron Precipitation leads to decrease in the concentration of hydroxyl radical from about 3.7ppbv to less than 1ppbv on 10th of January 2008 and decrease in the value of DST index.
