The impact of financial status on mental health and academic performance of young adults in Makerere University
Abstract
The focus of the study was to examine the relationship between financial status, mental health and academic performance of young adults of Makerere University. The study involved a sample size of 112 students studying at Makerere University from different colleges. The researcher applied a quantitative research method in particular descriptive and correlation design was used. A random sampling method was also used to select the respondents. On the basis of the findings, the researcher concluded that there is no significant relationship between financial status and mental health as well as financial status and academic performance. It was therefore recommended that the government should put in place financial aid and spread more awareness about mental health in different intuitions of learning.
