Abstract/Description:
Bauza on stage with two unidentified musicians. The musician and band leader Mario Bauza, born in Havana, Cuba in 1911, has been called the father of Afro-Cuban jazz. In 1990, while he was Artist-in-Residence at Harvard University, Harvard and Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción collaborated to hold a concert in his honor at the Jorge Hernandez Cultural Center. Bauza's band was joined on stage by the Harvard Jazz Orchestra. Bauza died in his apartment in New York City in 1993.
