Wénin, André
[UCL]
This article consists in a comparative analysis of the processes used to tell the death of John the Baptist in Mt 14.1-9 and Mk 6.14-29. The story is the same, but the options of the evangelists give rise to very different narratives, whose meaning and impact on the reader are quite different. To show this, the A successively studies the selection of “facts”, the order of presentation, the temporality and modes of narration, the narrative dynamics (suspense, curiosity, surprise), the reader’s position, the focalisation and the links with the macro-narrative.
