| 抄録: | In this paper, we take up the issue of the institutional backgrounds required for conscientious engineers to act ethically. Two keywords used in this context are 'independence' and 'autonomy' (both of which are pronounced as 'Jiritsu' in Japanese, with different Chinese characters). We elaborate these notions using insights from professional ethics and sociology of professions. |
