<原著>胸水中の肺巨細胞癌と肺腺癌との細胞像の比較検討

Abstract

In order to study whether we can differentiate the giant cell carcinoma cells from the adenocarcinoma cells in the pleural fluid, morphometric and cytological characteristics of these cells were investigated. The conclusions are as follows : 1) Cell clusters were more often seen in adenocarcinoma than in giant cell carcinoma. 2) More nuclei and nucleoli were seen in giant cell carcinoma cells than in adenocarcinoma cells. 3) Cytophagocytosis and bizaare giant cells with multiple nuclei were characteristic in giant cell carcinoma cells. 4) The diameter of the giant cell carcinoma cells was sometimes over 100μ, but on the other hand that of adenocarcinoma cells were all less than 75μ. 5) The diameter of the largest nuclei was 50μ in the case of giant cell carcinoma cells and 25μ in the case of adenocarcinoma cells.
