Assessment of factory campus development in Turkey through an urban design perspective : the case of İskenderun Iron and Steel Factory Campus
Kimyon, Deniz; Gedikli, Bahar; Urban Design in City and Regional Planning Department (2013)
Thesis aims to elaborate the urbanism ideology developed in the early republican period of Turkey and its reflection on the development of factory campuses. In Turkey after the Ottoman Empire, new state with its own ideology has impact on shaping urban space, politics of urban forms development, urban morphology and urban metamorphosis. This thesis examines various factory campuses designed and built after the establishment of the Turkish Republic, and focuses on a later campus development; namely İskenderu...
A probabilistic approach to multi criteria sorting problem
Buğdacı, Aslı Gül; Köksalan, Murat; Department of Industrial Engineering (2009)
We aim to classify alternatives evaluated in multiple criteria among preference ordered classes assuming an underlying additive utility function. We develop a probabilistic classification method by calculating the probability of an alternative being in each class. We assign alternatives to classes based on threshold probabilities. We require the decision maker to place an alternative to a class when no alternatives satisfy the required thresholds. We find new probabilities for unassigned alternatives in the...
Application of strategic planning methodology to Republic of Turkey Ministry of Finance
Özahçı, Erhan; Şen, Tayyar; Department of Industrial Engineering (2007)
In this study, it is aimed to determine and implement a process based strategic planning methodology for Turkish Ministry of Finance. Proposed methodology has been implemented in Ministry of Finance by a TÜBİTAK supported strategic management project in collaboration with Ministry of Finance Strategy Development Unit (MoF_SDU), TÜSSİDE and a private Consultancy Company. This project was a direct consequence of reforms on Public Financial Management and stipulated by the Laws No. 5018 and 5436 which have bee...
Approximate models and solution approaches for the vehicle routing problem with multiple use of vehicles and time windows
Boer, Jeroen Wouter de; Süral, Haldun; Department of Industrial Engineering (2008)
In this study we discuss the Vehicle Routing Problem with multiple use of vehicles (VRPM). In this variant of the routing problem the vehicles may replenish at any time at the depot. We present a detailed review of existing literature and propose two mathematical models to solve the VRPM. For these two models and their several variants we provide computational results based on the test problems taken from the literature. We also discuss a case study in which we are simultaneously dealing with side constrain...
